Scottish Success

Congratulations to all the Stirling students that took part in the recent 20th Annviversay Championships.  Instructor Liz McKenna won silver in both 4th degree patterns and female destruction.  She also won Bronze in the female middle weight sparring despite being unable to kick properly due to a knee injury.  Instructor Chris McKenna won the veteran patterns division, bronze in the sparring and was only narrowly defeated to silver in the veteran sparring.  Mikkel Rasmussen did very well and won bronze in the junior middle weight sparring and bronze in the junior male destruction. His younger brother clinched silver in the junior light weight division with Rhys McKenna hot on his heels for bronze.  Nicole Docherty had her best tournament to date with a gold trophy win the junior female heavy weight division and silver in the junior female special technique.  Heather Gray and Emily Gairns took part in their first ever blackbelt Scottish Championships and a special mention goes to Tony Docherty, who despite being injured spent the entire weekend assisting in the refereeing.

The coloured belt participants also did the club proud:  Lewis Swan, Kieran Webb, Matthew Dempsey, Lauryn Turnbull, Ryan Dempsey, Caitlin MacLennan and Harry Cox all performed superbly on the day (check out the main website www.ultimatetaekwon-do.co.uk for full results)
